I couldn't think of a better way to celebrate Valentine's Day than to welcome our first child into this world! At 10:30 AM on February 14, 2012, we welcomed Dallin Dalton Jarnagin into our family! He weighed 8 lbs. 3 oz. and was 19 1/2 inches long.
We got to the hospital at 2:45 AM after I'd been having some good contractions through the night. I was dilated to a 4 when we got there, and after an hour I was still at a 4. They admitted me and I got some relief FINALLY with my epidural. Word to wise: those are totally the way to go :)
Around 6:00 AM I was checked and had progressed to a 6. By this point we were thinking of having our baby by 2:00 or 3:00 PM. When the doctor came in at 8:30 AM to break my water we were all surprised to learn that I was dilated to 10 plus and was ready to start pushing! At 9:00 AM we got started and after an hour and a half we had our beautiful little boy! The cord was wrapped pretty tightly around his neck twice, so we are really lucky that the doctor was able to take it off quickly and that there were no complications because of that.
I do need to note how well Dax handled everything. We were a little worried about his ability to tolerate blood and the whole wonderful process of birth, but he was a champ! Love my man :)

Getting ready to leave the hospital
We couldn't be happier or more proud of our beautiful boy!
What a blessed little boy. Jason and I were talking about how the gospel blesses our lives. And sometimes we fail to see it in the day to day mess of things, but then it hits us, like lightening at times like these. Like when this brand new beautiful baby is blessed to be born into a home with righteous parents. Parents who love one another, who love the gospel, and who will love him and teach him. Parents who will sacrifice everything for him and put his needs above their own. And you may not see it, but your parents do, Dax's parents do, we do! We see the culmination of many righteous choices made by you two, and it's like payday for everyone! For you, for your parents, for everyone who loves you. THIS is a blessing of the gospel! For sweet baby Dallin, and for you and Dax! CONGRATULATIONS!
